$1500-$2500, sliding scale
Notes on sliding scale:
$2000 represents the true cost of my services. Setting a fair wage for myself allows me to support my community and take care of myself as a doula and a human being. If you are able to meet your basic financial needs, have access to healthcare and some expendable income, $2000 or more is your price point.
Choosing to pay less than $2000 means you are receiving a discount according to your financial need. The lower price point is intended for those with little to no expendable income, generational wealth, or financial safety net. These tiers are for folks who stress to meet their basic needs. I recognize that paying for doula services may involve some sacrifice for most of my clients; the lower payment tiers are intended for those for whom paying at full cost would lead to significant hardship.
Choosing to pay more than $2000 means you are in a position to not only meet your own needs comfortably, but pay it forward some to your community. Folks who land in this category may be part of multi-income households, own a home, and/or have access to a reliable financial safety net. In this way, you’re not only investing in your own doula support, but contributing to the health and wellbeing of other Austin families.
Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lower end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the financial flexibility.
I reserve up to 3 slots in my calendar every year at a significantly reduced sliding scale fee of $50-$550. These reduced-rate spots are meant for birthing people with historically marginalized identities, including Black, Indigenous, People of Color, queer, and trans folks for whom the full rate is inaccessible. Please contact me for more details.
Thank you for participating in this experiment to make critical doula services available to a wider swath of our community! My approach to sliding scale is greatly informed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk.
